━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Rare sake cup by Ohori Soma Ware Ikariya Pottery. This gorgeous sake cup features the auspicious golden running design on a black background that invokes the image of samurai armour.

Handcrafted by highly skilled craftsmen using specialised skills.

Framed painting of a horse
Although there are several theories,it is thought that during the era of the Soma Nakamura clan, farm horses that plowed the fields were trained into war horses. This painting depicts a “divine horse” that protects the people from other clans, and is said to be the work of the Kano school.
This painting is also called "Hashiri-goma" or "Hidari-uma", and has been regarded as an auspicious design in praying for longevity in battle and family safety.

What is the heart-shaped hole?
The shape of the hole, which resembles a heart, is known as "a plover's footprints".
It has the meaning of "overcoming the storm together", and is also a symbol of marital harmony and achieving your goals.

Generation since the Edo period

Ikariya Kiln is a kiln of "Obori Soma ware" that has been passed down from the Edo period to the present.
When the feudal lord of Soma Nakamura stopped by the inn he was running at the time, he changed the name of the shop from the anchor of the ship, saying, "No matter what happens to this land, you will not be washed away." It is said that he received it.

Reliable technology with a long history

About 330 years after its establishment, after overcoming many crises such as the Great East Japan Earthquake, in 2013, it resumed making Obori Soma ware in Shirakawa City, Fukushima Prefecture, and is working hard to make pottery.

With a long history of reliable technology, we carefully create handmade products that meet the needs and lifestyles of our main works, such as sake cups, tea utensils, mugs, plates, and flower vases, considering the people who will use them. increase.

“I will work on making pottery while thinking that it will be a part of everyday scenery and important memories.”
13th generation kiln owner
